Hi. I'm a child psychologist, parent/teacher trainer, and father of two wonderful sons, Jeremy and Jesse. I've been working in the mental health field since 1980, married to Caryn, my best friend, confidante, and capable colleague since 1986, parenting since 1989, and listening and learning from kids for as long as I can remember. I created Parent Coaching Cards with help from many kids dealing with problems at home, school, and with friends. Being teased, overreacting, not cooperating, blaming others, and being inflexible, often contributed to the tough times they faced. They didn't want long lectures from parents, they wanted simple and sensible ways to make things better. Parents told me they wanted practical parenting tools that would appeal to kids. Teachers said they wanted a kid-friendly system to solve behavior problems at school quickly. If you're a kid, think of Parent Coaching Cards as tools to keep your life running smoothly. If you're a parent, these cards provide a game plan to guide children toward social and emotional success. If you're an educator or other professional, these cards help kids solve real life problems. The picture below shows the Parent Coaching Package: cards, coloring book, and instruction packet. Please check out the other pages to see and learn more. My hope is that your search for practical answers just got a little easier. Dr. Steven Richfield |

Attn: Philadelphia area parents &educators. Innovative children's self-control/social skills group programs are now in effect....Working in conjunction with Jewish Family and Children's Service of Greater Philadelphia, a series of time-limited Socialization Groups for Children are offering children a toolbox of self-control skills. These groups are being offered within schools and incorporate the Parent Coaching Cards. This three part series was developed by Dr. Richfield and is offered in the schools by trained therapists from Jewish Family and Children's Service. The groups consist of four structured sessions where children learn to recognize their emotional "triggers" and develop solution-focused coping strategies. Parents attend a seminar and learn how to work as their children's "coaches" as the children learn the new social and emotional tools. Dr. Richfield offers an inservice training for educators which offers concrete ways to adapt the Parent Coaching Card program to a classroom setting. This group program can be conducted at any school interested in employing the Group Training Manual.
THE PARENT COACHING CARDS GROUP MANUAL IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE TO INTERESTED SCHOOLS OR COUNSELING AGENCIES OUTSIDE THE PHILADELPHIA AREA. TRAININGS CONDUCTED BY DR. RICHFIELD CAN BE ARRANGED.CALL 610-238-4450 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
